Under ett sekel efter 1789 har Frankrike testat alla kända typer av statssystem, vissa två eller tre gånger. Tre republiker, ett par monarkier, två kejsardömen, då och då en diktatur, ett direktorat, en kommun – alla system man kan tänka sig.
Alla byten fick samma konsekvenser för individen och samtliga bevisade sanningen i Thomas Paine´s”The trade of governing has always been a monopoly of the most ignorant andthe most vicious of mankind.”
Man kan fråga sig varför denna följd av system i Frankrike inte lett till mer funderingar över det faktiska nettovärdet av vilket politiskt system som helst över ett annat?

If it did, it would be signing it’s own death-warrant, for as Lenin pointed out, “It is nonsense to make any pretense of reconciling the State and liberty.”
Our economic system being what it is, and the State being what it is, all the mass of verbiage about “the free peoples” and “the free democracies” is merely so much obscene buffoonery.”
